My New Morning Ritual: Sadhana (A work in progress)

Image
A ritual of learning and living with intention, a guide to samadhi, but first and foremost, a practice in yoga that taps one into themselves is called a Sadhana. This can be many things based on many definitions and personal views, culture and religious affiliations. Truth, we are always practicing something, creating something, becoming something. We are ever expanding and growing. How consciously we practice is determined by many factors, but I agree, one's morning ritual is high at the top of the list. I'd like to distinguish here between a morning Sadhana and the Sadhana that happens as we are ready or have time to address. What we drag our attention to bright and early will most likely inform the rest of the day until we can reset into the afternoon-evening. This does not mean that we are screwed if we miss this activity. This means if we miss this activity, we feel less like ourselves. You may discover, here in this blog, a couple ways that help you wake up and jump i

Battle NOT! Honor your Power and from whence it flows....

Image
Sometimes, we get caught up in how/what other people are feeling, so deeply, that we lose ourselves. We see the expression on their faces and get caught in assumptions about what the expression might mean. Sometimes we ask, never to really know. We may even think this to be an indication of who we are or what we are doing. They don’t like it. They do like it. We don’t like or do like as result. I grew up trying to please people, so for me, these looks, the good and the not so good, were important. Over the years, I have had to come back to a mantra that has served me well. NO ONE can judge me. Even when they do, we don’t have to battle their thoughts/ feelings. We have our own. Here are 3 ways to Honor your Power and the Source, from whence it flows.  1. Take your power back! Recognize that you are in control of the things that you focus on. Rather than focusing on someone else’s assumed thought/feeling, we can focus on our own. We can most often know what our personal though

Order Of Operations (O3)

Image
Everything has its good time. Every dog has her good day. When this can inform the way you interact in the world, with yourself and others, you tap into something I am calling the Order Of Operations (O3). Like trioxygen, that protect us from the toxins in the atmosphere, this might sound familiar. In Math class, Order of Operations is one of the first things you learn after mastering single-step equations. The Order of Operations is how you organize what to do first within a multi-step equation so that the sequence allows for the right answer, in layman's terms. Exponents, Roots, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction is the order in math. This happens with programming and language too. When you tap into the fact that everything happens at the right time, and that you can sequence some of this to your advantage, you open to your influence on HOW things unfold. You take the steps in the order that takes some of the ambiguity out of life. Some, I said. Some. Let’s ma

Steel Cut Oats and Almond flour Oatmeal Raisin Cookies.....

Image
I have to let you know up front, if you are on a diet, these are not going to save you. These cookies are yummy-- I think the butter has a lot to do with it. You can substitute ghee (clarified butter) in as an alternative. These cookies are really only slightly healthy, but I'll take them when I need a touch of home. Really, I'd rather like to know how much of the "yummy" ingredients are in the cookies I eat.  At the very least one can commit to eating consciously if they know what they baked together. The steel cut oats and the almond flour- no white flour here-- are delicious. And instead of white sugar or brown, I used coconut sugar. SO there is some merit. Enjoy. Yields 18 good sized cookies, so share. Here are the ingredients . 1 stick of butter/ 8 table spoons 11/2 cup coconut sugar (Trader Joe's has a good organic bag that's economical.) 1 teaspoon baking powder I teaspoon baking soda 1 3/4 cup almond flour 1/4 teaspoon sea salt 2 eggs

What Does Success Mean to You? " What you seek is seeking you." - Rumi What do you seek? I seek success. However, sometimes it can be hard to pin it down. Each year success means something else to me. Each moment, success can mean something different. I didn't do that thing that I always do-- SUCCESS! I have a focused meditation practice or became aware of something new my body can do--SUCCESS! Right now, create a list of 5 things that would mean success to you. Do those 5 things boil up to: BE HAPPY? If so, and I believe it is, no matter what you aim for, success is about your happiness. Though it is important at some point to give your idea of success specificity, seek your happiness first. Seeking happiness takes the madness out of reaching some end, when it's all just cycles of beginning and beginning again anyway. Seeking your happiness is not license to be negligent of yourself or others, either. Be careful with this. Happiness is about

Happy New Year Circulation

Image
Jai Dev Singh , founder of the Life Force Academy, recently shared during a prosperity meditation, that it is not about reception; it is about circulation. This affected me deeply because receiving is what we so often use as our barometer of success. How many houses, cars or shoes can we accumulate until we feel fulfilled?  And, we all know people who have an abundance of these things and still do not feel like they have enough. So why do we continue to focus in this way? Sounds like time for a change in perspective. Prosperity, not just money and tangibles but an elevated, conscious awareness of your (tuned in/turned on) inner working, comes from a focus on right movement. Like blood flows through the body, naturally, energy does too. Unless there is a block in the path, things move as governed by law. Why do we stop this flow, decreasing the level of circulation-- the movement of things to and fro or around something? Many of us assume if we let go of these things, if we do not s
