Drishti Focused

Where is your drishti?

How much can you see? Not do you need glasses or contacts to see, but how much are you really consciously aware to see? And, what about your focus? Can you discern what is right in front of you as real or illusion and focus on what is truly real?

The truth is most people only see with the eyes in their heads. We perceive just the minimum and stop there. We find a truth that sits well in front of us, that is beautiful or pleasing, and we decide that to be our reality. Or we see the cup half empty and pillage all of the negative thoughts we can find to describe what appears to be our reality, with only one perspective of the truth: that which is seen only with the eyes.

Freedom, true liberation, is found in seeking and accepting what is real, what is seen through the one eye of truth. The focus on the internal eye is that which leads us to enlightenment or Bliss. This is a tall order but a process of seeing all that you are, that this is: that we are One and everything is a blessing.

To uncover the truth, one must begin with focus, bringing awareness past the manifestations of the mind. This can be done with a drishti. A drishti is a focal point. It can consist of a thought (mantra), a spot/ space (chakra or the tip of the nose). A drishti can be an object (mala beads or candle flame) or a feeling inside, such as the rise and fall of the breath.

Place your attention on something to steady your gaze and maintain a focus. Like "spotting", the dancer keeps her awareness on the choice spot. With a drishti, one calms the movements of the mind, thus the body, and the fantasy, making one steady enough so all of the things once thought to sustain fade. We realize, with a drishti, we are not the body container. We are not the fantasy we create. We are more than that.

To be sure of your truth, see past your eye lids to what is inside. The truth in the calm waters will always reveal that you are protected and loved constantly. You are light, radiant and beautiful. Line up with and become aware of yourself. That will be the truth.
