My Story and My Future: Fourty Day Mushroom Detox

Image
After meeting Leukemia head on two years ago, I realized that there were definitely some things that I needed to work through, mind, body and spirit. I thought that as I am a praying, practicing yogini that everything would work out. But what I found on the other side of things "working out" is that the process of living your best life in each moment entails the breaking down of false constructs to rebuild anew. And I was not sure what to do to approach my systems' needs fully. Things that I did not think were a problem began to show themselves to me. It was then I realized I needed a holistic approach, one that involved healing on many levels of my being. A friend of mine recently asked me what I learned from having cancer. My response, though I am not sure it fully encompasses the truth of all I have learned, is that I have moved through many different attachments and false beliefs about life. They have been broken down. My authentic heart, which I tried to hide, ex

May All Positivity Chant On!!

"Ya Devi Sarva Bhuteshu Matru Rupen Sanstitah... Namastasai Namastasyei Namastasei namo namaha."        ( I bow to the divine feminine conscious that is within us all, over and over again. ) I have always been nervous about chanting. I am not anymore. I know that we are always saying things over and over again in our heads with intention, and that is chanting. And some of the things we are constantly chanting are unfortunately not that nice. On the other hand, when is there a time that you deliberately entice the divinity within yourself and others? When do you take the time to acknowledge that the love within you is also the love within others? Or that the God that rocks out for you, rocks for both of us in equal strength and power? Do you take time to say things like these, over and over again? I used to be scared of the idea of chanting because growing up in a Christian household, I thought that this was idol worship. I thought that this meant I was not worshipping

Truth is Your Identity

Trust Yourself!! Answer the following questions orally as quickly as you can. Don’t get stuck on any one question.  Just answer each one and then move on to the next. Don’t scrutinize your answer or think about what someone else would say or do. If you feel like you can’t find an answer, say anything (even “blah, blah”) and then move on. What does loving yourself today look like?  Do you want to change anything about yourself? If so, what? Would you say that means you don’t love yourself? Do you find that you spend most of your time competing with others? About what? Do you try to change people? Why? What would happen if you spent each day doing the things that make you feel good? Can you do that? Have you ever done that, even for half of a day?   Would you say you are more selfish or selfless? Why? What kind of person are you? Do you feel good about yourself when you answer these questions? Your answers to questio

About Courtney Rohan

Image
For years, Courtney Rohan thought that she was just a middle school teacher, who taught yoga. Now she knows she is just a teacher. Yes, she is that. To the core of her being, she is a teacher. She thrives when others learn more about themselves, can think differently or more intently about things, and when one remembers who they really are. It satisfies her to offer insight into a situation, pose or thought. So teaching is what she does to remind people that they are not their circumstance, body or thought, and they are capable of change if they desire. For over 10 years, Courtney has taught middle school English and yoga to a variety of teachers and students with varying needs. During this time, she has enjoyed living up and down the east coast from New Hampshire to South Carolina, providing students multifaceted uses of yoga to address life, singing, writing and delving deeper into spiritual practices. And her teachers are just as varied as her students and offerings. Courtney

Following a thought-feeling…

Image
Where do “valuable” feelings originate? And, mind you, they are all “valuable”; it is how quickly we can make sense of their value by feeling them that is really the key. Now is always the time. _______________________________________ There is a continuum of thoughts and feeling that we pattern, that we experience throughout our lives, daily, and moment by moment. They change. They begin again. This is scary for some to consider because most do not like the thoughts that they think very much. However, if we are the ones thinking them, then we have control over the attention we give to them, and therefore, control over them.  And that is the best thing to know about this idea of thought patterning; we are in control. We are the creators, and that’s really most of the answer.  These thoughts, all of them come from inside of us to produce a feeling, or the feeling produces the thought, that is map to our manifestations. So though these two things (thoughts and feelings) are
